PURI
After(or before) the festival you may like to visit some of
the extraordinary places which are within easy reach from Puri.
Orissa is the land of temples....you will see one, sometimes
several on a single street. Apart from the most famous Lord
Jagannath temple in Puri there are the important pilgrimage
destinations of Sakshi Gopal(18 km),and the Lingaraj temple at
Bhubaneshwar(60 km). Nearby you can also see the Jain caves at
Khandagiri or you could go to the Stupa at Dhauli((48km) where
King Ashoka had his famous change of heart. For those
interested in wildlife there is the bird sanctuary at
Chilika(70km), which at 1100 sq.km is the largest lake in
